Wearing a helmet is one of the best ways to protect your head when you ride your bike. Choose a helmet that has been approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). That way you’ll know that the helmet you buy meets safety standards. Make sure you try on the helmet before you buy it. It should fit snugly. And it should not be able to tip backward or forward on your head. If you need help, speak with someone at a bike store.
Once you have your helmet, make sure to wear it every time you go for a ride. And if your helmet ever gets damaged, replace it. A damaged helmet may be as dangerous as wearing no helmet at all.
