If you’re distracted, you may eat more than you intend to. You may have experienced this before if you’ve ever eaten in front of the TV. You’re focused on the screen and before you know it you’ve polished off an entire pint of ice cream. Well, the same thing can happen with your smartphone. Maybe you are reading the news on your phone while snacking on some almonds. When you finally look up from your screen, you’ve finished half the bag. Or maybe you are checking emails over dinner and helping yourself to extra servings of food. To curb this behavior, try to turn your phone off or set it aside when you eat. Focus on what you are eating. And take time to savor your food. You just may find it helps curb mindless eating.
