Studies have found that sitting for long periods every day raises the risk for serious health issues like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and stroke. And this holds true even if you work out and eat right. One simple way to break up the blocks of time spent in your chair is to get up and move at regular intervals. Research suggests that getting out of your chair each hour can go a long way toward keeping you healthy. So find ways to interrupt your sitting several times a day. Get up and get a drink of water. Stand at your desk and march in place, do some squats, or stretch for a few minutes.
