Dining out can be tough when you’re trying to watch your weight. Restaurant dishes can be high in calories and sodium content. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy eating out. Look for vegetarian, grilled skinless chicken, or fish dishes. Try to avoid red meats, fried foods, or dishes heavy with sauces or gravy. If your dish comes with a salad, ask for the dressing on the side. Cut empty calories by drinking water or unsweetened tea instead of soda or alcohol. And if you know the portion sizes are large, ask to have half of your meal wrapped in a to-go box.
