You have more control over your reaction to stressful events than you may think. And changing your self-talk is the first step to taking your control back. Start by watching what you say to yourself when stress hits. Maybe you’re in the habit of saying, “This is driving me crazy,” or “I can’t deal with this.” If so, practice telling yourself, “I can cope with this,” or “There’s a solution to this problem,” instead. Repeat these mantras until they become second nature.
