You—and your muscles—may get bored doing the same old workout routine. So look for ways to mix things up. Are you strength training today? If so, try a new exercise or a variation on one of your usual exercises. For instance, you could add squats to the mix. Or try single-leg squats instead of the standard double-leg squat. Are you doing cardio today? If so, switch it up with a new cardio workout. Take a dance class instead of a spin class. Or add short bursts of higher intensity to your usual cardio routine. Mixing up your workouts can help you avoid burnout.
Make sure to talk with your doctor before starting any new exercise routine.
