We all have goals we’d like to reach and changes we’d like to make. But sometimes we get stuck. And that can feel frustrating and lead to stress. Maybe you’ve set a goal to eat less added sugar, lose 20 pounds, or quit smoking—but you’ve had no luck. If you feel stuck, it may be that your goal is not realistic.
It may help to break overly big goals into smaller, easy-to-reach steps. Instead of trying to lose 50 pounds, try to cut 1 high-calorie food out of your diet each day. Or, add 5 more minutes to your workout each week. Little by little, and step by step, you may get closer to reaching your ultimate goal.
