Foods high in calories, but low in nutrients, are not very healthy. French fries, candy, and cookies are a few foods that come to mind. They are OK as a treat once in a while, but not as the mainstay of your food plan. They won’t nourish you. And they tend to be high in fat, added sugar, and salt. So it’s best to limit them as much as you can and to focus on healthy foods instead. To do this, make a list of foods that are loaded with vitamins and minerals, but are low in calories. Fresh fruits and veggies, eggs, seafood, whole grains, nuts and seeds, as well as low-fat dairy and lean meat and poultry are good choices.
