When you build more muscle, you will raise your metabolism. This means you will burn more calories doing the same workout as someone with less muscle. So strength training, along with cardio, can help you keep your weight in check. Check out strength training classes at your local gym or fitness center. Or, you could work with a certified personal trainer. He or she can help tailor a strength training program that’s right for you. Try to add at least 2 to 3 sessions each week.
Make sure to talk with your doctor before starting any new fitness routine.
