Losing or maintaining your weight is a very good reason to work out. But you may have other reasons. And keeping those reasons in mind can help boost your motivation to work out. Maybe you want to lower your blood pressure, boost your energy, or improve your mood. Maybe you’d like to sleep better or ease your low back pain. Or maybe you would like to feel less winded when you play with your kids or grandkids.

Take some time to write out a list of all your reasons for getting and staying fit. You might write them on a set of index cards you can keep on hand. That way, if you feel like skipping a workout, you can refer to your cards for inspiration.
