If you eat while performing other tasks, you’re probably distracted. You’re likely not thinking about your food. As a result, you may be eating too fast. And you may be more likely to eat too much. Try to practice mindful eating, instead. Put the phone away. Turn off your laptop or TV. Avoid thinking about your to-do list or worries. Instead, focus on the smell, color, texture, and taste of each bite you take. You might even think about how grateful you are for your delicious and nutritious meal. Or you might think about where and how the food was grown or produced.
As you become a more mindful eater, you will likely see your eating habits change for the better. And you may come to have a better relationship with food.
